Are you smarter than a 10 year old?

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Its on Sky1 on Thursday and its really a test for me. I am really impressed by what the kids here in England learn. Today i learned that Florance Nightingale lived till she was 90 years old. The kid knew it, and I didn’t. They asked which continent Timbucktoo was in, Africa, and I was right. The guy on the show said it was either Asia or India. Err….Last I checked, India was not a continent. Its part of Asia! I find his anwser extremly funny as people from India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh are called Asians here. Doesn’t that idicate that India is in the Asian continent? Anyhoo, if I was a contestant I would not make it to even the first safe zone. There is another show however which I would definate do well in. Don’t forget the lyrics :) Whas your favourite game show?

My Blueberry Nights :- A review

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

I watched this on the flight from KUL to Bahrain as most of the other movies showing I had already seen. I didn’t even read the article on the magazine which gave the highlights as I wanted to be entertained. As soon as the movie started I told myself, the main female lead role looked so familiar, but could not place her and at the end of the movie I realized she was Norah Jones, the Jazz artist. Norah did a good job as an actor I think. The movie is one of those artsy types, which allot of angle changes and different lighting, and I think it told the story very well. I enjoyed the diffent people Norah meets through the film, and of course the fact that it had Natalie Portman always helps! I was entertained, and I think it was a pretty good film.

Nicks Rating :- 8.2 / 10.0

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian : A review

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Long weekends are the  best time to watch movies you missed on the big screen on DVD, and my Monday evening movie was The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. The movie starts off pretty much where the first one ended, with the 2 sons of Adam and 2 daugthers of Eve in London, England after they returned from Narnia. It has only been 1 year for them, but 1300 for Narnia. They are called back to Narnia by Susan Horn that was blown by the exiled Prince Caspian in an act of desperation. The movie to me was definately a good watch, great visual effects and a storyline that had its share of drama, comedy, adventure and anticipation. If you have never read the book before, you would definately be excited with the plot. The characters were really cute, especially the mouse! Hehe.  I give it two thumbs up. Can’t wait for the next movie!

Hancock :- A Review

Monday, August 25th, 2008

After my wisdom tooth removal, I had allot of time at home recovering and I decided to watch all the movies I had missed thus far, the first on my list, Hancock. I bought the DVD a while back, but just never found the time to watch it. The last Will Smith movie I watched was “I am Legend”, and it was alittle to overpowering, as it left me with too much of him. This film was much better. More toned down in his acting, a good plot and it gave the other people in the film a chance to show themselves. The character development of Hancock from a careless person to a real hero was very beleiveable and I really enjoyed this movie.

WALL-e : A Review

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

I loved it! Whats not to love? He is just so cute, this small little transformer. Granted he only transforms into a box. Hehe. The movie was well written, the animation great, and the storyline for me was not exactly predictable, but I did somehow guess that there were bad robots at play. Its not really a cartoon that the whole family will enjoy, as its catered  the more mature crowd. So Put on your Sunday clothes and go and watch it!
