Of Busy Saturdays….

Monday, July 21st, 2008

Had allot to do last Saturday. Tons. Started by going to the Wet market in SS2 really early in order to cook curry chicken for a party Sara and I were attending later that day. Now, I usually do my grocery shopping at Supermarkets, but decided to try the wet market as Sara said it was cheaper. We parked our car at SS2, and then started to walk around, the first thing that caught our eyes were some huge prawns, that were selling at 32 per Kt. We were really interested till somebody in the stall right next to us called us about his prawns. They were cheaper, about 22 per kt. As Sara and I were discussing which to buy, he went on a speech on how his prawns where from Kuala Selangor and they were the best, unlike the stall next to him, which is from some unknown place. He went on and on, till Sara and I were convinced, so Sara asked for 1 Kt. Now, I thought it was suppose to be 1 Kilogram, and when I saw he was only putting 600grams into the plastic bag, I alerted Sara. And she told me that the price is by Kt (Kati), which is an old way of measuring. Learned something new.

Us Shopping

coffee at the market

We continued to buy other things like Vegetables, Potatoes, Curry powder and of course Chicken. It was quite an experience for me. Have not shopped in a Wet market for ages. We then had breakfast there and proceeded to head home to cook curry.

After about and hour of chopping, frying and other cooking related verbs, we headed out to the dentist. I had  my teeth polished and cleaned as well as having a filling filled. The dentist says i need to get my wisdom tooth extracted. Argh. Have to arange for that soon.

Then it was to Pavilion, where I had a gym session. One hour of working out really made me extremely tired and not very flexible at all. Sigh. Then we had lunch at KFC, and did some shopping there. Then we picked up Sara’s cousin Grace and headed off to Young Adult service in GT.

After service it was party time. We drove back to get the Chicken curry and then onwards to the party, where we ate tons of amazingly good food. Yum. Then we sent back Sara’s cousin and headed to 1 Utama for our midnight movie, the Dark Night.

We were soo tired, and Sara actually fell asleep for about 1 hour. I tried to wake her up, but she insisted that she was too tired and needed some shut eye. Hehe. All in all 1 learned a few important things.

1) I am too old for mid-night movie

2) A kt is 600 grams

3) Wet markets are cheaper than Supermarkets

4) Don’t mess with Kuala Selangor Prawns

Of mornings gym sessions and road blocks….

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

I got up early this morning, and not wanting to make the same mistake I did yesterday, took my time to make sure I packed my gym bag correctly. Shoes, check, Socks, check, belt, check. Even found my glasses which was in the front pocket of my gym bag, I knew they would show up sooner or later. I drove out of my taman, and then jammed my brakes. I forgot my shirt. Made a quick U-turn and went home to get it. Thank God I didn’t drive all the way to Megamall before I realized I forgot it. An improvement from yesterday, I told myself. I finally got onto the Federal Highway, and there was a jam! At 6am? I thought it was some major accident or something, only to realize it was yet another stupid Police road block. Sigh, there are gonna be major traffic jams today! Arrived at my gym, and worked out. Listening to CNN while doing my cardio excersizes I looked around the gym and realized much of the same faces are still there. The super fit lady still does her excersizes early in the morning, the one I so want to tell her ,”You made it, go home and take a break”. The lady who reads the papers while doing the stepping machine is there. The kick boxing guy is there. The overly unshy dude, who walks around butt naked in the changing room is there (And honestly, it not like he has a huge package to show off). Ah, Gym in the wea hours of the morning, I do miss thee.

Oh, on a side note , “Happy Birthday Yen!”

Of Cracked Skin and LRT Rides

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Sara and I are sharing a car now until I buy my new one, perhaps next month, and since she has a dinner to attend tonight, I took the LRT to work. I don’t really mind, as my hours are 10 - 7, and by that time the trains are quite empty. It still amazes me though, there are some morons who don’t know how to line up. There I was 3rd in line with 6 people behind me when some big guy tried to cut into the lane. I purposely shouldered him, causing him to stop. Only later as I sat on the train and he stood beside me did I notice how big sized he was. You know, one of those body builder types. He looked well dressed and educated, yet somehow the simple concept of queuing was not present in his brain. Tell me how? Do we not have to Queue at the school canteen, queue up to enter the classroom and stuff like that? Any Malaysian should have learned that in public schools! Yet people seem to have forgoten? Sigh. If anybody think we Malaysians are a society with moral values, they are sadly mistaken.

Anyways, I got to my office, and stopped by the pharmacy to buy some ointment or balm for my fingers. Yes, my skin is peeling badly. So badly that it starts to bleed and I decided that its time to turn myself a little metrosexual and moisturize! This stuff is great! Within seconds of applying my fingers felt and looked better. Didn’t take a before shot, so the after shot would not really mean anything. Never the less, I am impressed.

The drive back to KL

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

Saturday morning, Sara and I drove the family to the Crematorium once again, where the family members did one last ritual before the ashes were placed into a slot on a wall. It was another long and hot day, and the ceremony was very long, as most Taoist ones are. We finally left the place at 12, had lunch with Sara’s dad at Jusco and then did a bit of shopping for the family, before we headed back up to KL.

The ride was a long one, this time Sara myself and Anderson, our 6 year old nephew in the car. Sara drove most of the way, as I was still quite tired, and this time our nephew was very quiet. He was very bored but he was very well behaved. He just looked out the window and watched the world go by. Sara and I talk mostly in English, and my nephew doesn’t really understand much, so i guess he didn’t know how to add to the conversation. After a few hours though, towards the end of the journey, he tried to use the few English words he knew and joined the conversation, which was rather impressive for me.

We finally sent the boy home, and then went home and just slept. End of a long day.

First Week Home, A New Phase

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Its been 7 days since I got back from Australia, and I am adjusting to a new job, and missing Sara so much. When I first got back I got a little sick, and honestly I am not 100% well yet, but I am surviving. I gotta give thanks to God for this great new Job. I love it. The people I work with, the environment, the company, everything has been a awesome blessing. If your wondering where I am working, I am not going to blog about it. I have decided to keep business and pleasure totally separate, and hence I am purposely vague when it comes to that in my blogs. That however leaves me with rather few updates as since work takes up most of my time, and I don’t blog about it, what then shall I write about? Chicken and Egg eh?

Well, once Sara gets back, and we go to the stages of planning our wedding, that will no doubt provide fuel for blogging with suggestions on wedding Ideas and the such, so thats one idea. Stay tuned for that in about a months time. From now till Sara comes back, I’ll probably be blogging about how much I miss her and mushy stuff like that, be forewarned. He he.

The danger about blogging I feel, is that it brings so much attention to yourself, that sometimes I wonder why I do the things I do. Do I go and eat at restaurants to experience the food? Or do I eat there so I can blog about it? And then every thing that happens, in the back of my mind, I go, “Oh, I must blog about that”. It does kinda goes into the cycle of living to blog, or blogging to live? Anyhoo, I am confusing myself. Its off to the Gym today to try and work off the extra weight I gained in Australia (Thanks Kenneth for pointing that out). Then its Saturday service and dinner with friends :)

Oh David, thanks for the ride to breakie in your new car!! Woohoo!!
