I know I usually  take tons of pictures of food but since I was celebrating Sara’s Birthday yesterday, and she knows the owner of Checkers personally, I didn’t want to embarrass her by going paparazzi on her. Checkers is a small cozy family place which is Non-Halal, and proud of it. It serves one of the best Pork Knuckle I have ever had in my life. A portion so big that both Sara and I could not finish it! All for only RM68, which I think is a fair price. It also has its famous “Lord of the Ribs” (LOTR), which is meant to be shared by at least 3 people! Do call and make reservations as it only has limited tables, and on a good day it will be packed! Closed on Mondays.

At One Utama, Opposite what used to be Dome is this little place which Sara and I adore. It serves a special dish among others called Rice Wine Chicken, at about Rm 20.90 for a pot which can serve from 2-3 people. If you like Bak Kut Teh, you will love this chicken!

Here at the-reflectors, we go eat at places and tell about it, so you don’t have to. And when it comes to Yo! Sushi, please don’t. The place may look hip and happening, but thats where the story ends. Sara and I, ate there today for lunch, just so that we could blog about it. I had heard horrow stories before, but I wanted to give it a chance. Firstly, as soon as we sat down we were greeted warmly by a waiter, who explained to us, how to Yo! There are 6 different color codes telling you what items cost how much. The prices are RM3, RM5, RM`0, RM 14 and RM16. This may seem reasonable till you see what quantity you get for those prices.

My Katsu chicken curry which was a Grey item, costing RM16, was soo small that I finished it in 5 spoons!! The items were ridiculously priced and our meal came up to RM65.55 for very few dishes. So expensive and so not worth it.

Last night Sara wanted to take me to a place I have not eaten before, and since returning from Vietnam where we decided to skip the Argentina Steak house there, we decided to have steaks here in KL. Our original destination was closed on a Monday night, and so we headed to the next place we could think of, Jake’s. This place is a very cozy little steakhouse with friendly staff and an interesting range. The price is a little steep, but I think its worth it.

We ordered the Escargot  - RM19.00 for 1/2 Dozen, 2 Special beers, Garlic Bread, B.B.Q Steak and a Rib for a total of RM202.75.

The food was average for a Japanese fast food place, but the service? Superb. Its own and run by Philipinos and they really know how to make sure you are comfortable and served. The waitress kept coming to us to make sure our glasses are filled, they gave us very excellent service, great table manners and the place was clean. I will come back if only to eat a light snack. The food is not to expensive for the Pavillion.
