Seems to me that all these old coffee shops are starting to turn into a local CoffeeBean or Starbucks by upscaling themselves, increasing the price of their goods and then improving the outlook of their shop. Not to be outdone, OldTown White Coffee has joined the bandwagon and has opened quite a few outlets in the klang valley. The ambiance is not bad, nice marble tables, clean envioment, nicely chilled with air cond. The drinks? Well the coffee is good, the breads are not bad, the ice blended drinks taste bad!! Mine tasted like it was made from Tang instead of fresh orange juice. The Herbal jelly was bellow average, but the curry chicken was good. So it all depends on what dishes you order at the end of the day. Its a nice place to just chill out with friends and talk with affordable prices.

JJCM :- Chicken Rice Shop, KL Sentral

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

I have always been sceptical of this place. The adds on the radio actually repelled me instead of attracting me to eat there, and I have heard bad stories from friends, granted at a different branch. But as choices where to eat are slim, we (the boyz and I) decided to try it. We ordered the family set which was about RM55, which came with a Quater chicken (either steamed, braised or roasted), a BBQ Chicken (mock char siew), Pai Tee, ToFu, a Gado-Gado, Bean Sprouts, a bowl of fish ball soup, 4 bowls of rice, 4 bowls of soup and a Jug of Pepsi. The food? Not bad actually for a chain store, good enough to make me eat there again, though not good enough to make me crave it. After taxes it came up to RM15.50 per person for 4 people.

JJCM :- Checkers, Kuala Lumpur

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

I know I usually  take tons of pictures of food but since I was celebrating Sara’s Birthday yesterday, and she knows the owner of Checkers personally, I didn’t want to embarrass her by going paparazzi on her. Checkers is a small cozy family place which is Non-Halal, and proud of it. It serves one of the best Pork Knuckle I have ever had in my life. A portion so big that both Sara and I could not finish it! All for only RM68, which I think is a fair price. It also has its famous “Lord of the Ribs” (LOTR), which is meant to be shared by at least 3 people! Do call and make reservations as it only has limited tables, and on a good day it will be packed! Closed on Mondays.

JJCM :- Very OK Restaurant, Taman Johor Jaya

Friday, January 4th, 2008

Looking for some Tim Sum when your in the Southmost city of Malaysia? Look no further than a restaurant that is Very OK by name and also taste. This place has tons of variety though there are more fried Tim Sum than steamed ones. On a Sunday they are rather filled and the stuff becomes a little rude, but it was good food.

JJCM :- Oriental Cravings, One Utama

Friday, December 21st, 2007

At One Utama, Opposite what used to be Dome is this little place which Sara and I adore. It serves a special dish among others called Rice Wine Chicken, at about Rm 20.90 for a pot which can serve from 2-3 people. If you like Bak Kut Teh, you will love this chicken!
