Last saturday before I left for the UK, Sara and I had a full day. We had many errands to runs and not forgeting to mention our pre-marital counselling class (will blog more about this later). Where did we have lunch? At this gem of a place called PappaRich. Its a modern coffee shop type place with nice decor.

We ordered Pappa Toast Kaya Butter Bun (RM3.80), which was very good. A soft with crispy skin bun, using a good chunk of quality butter and home made kaya. The french fries(RM3.90) where also home made, and fried to perfection. I drank an interesting concoction called Soya Milk Cincau Gula Melaka (RM4.80) which had home made soya bean milk and tasted yummy. Not too sweet and rather refreshing. Sara had a can of coke (RM3.20). There was a 5% service charge and the bill came up to RM16.50. So cheap. Cheaper than drinking and eating at Starbucks!! My only issue was the staff didn’t chase away smokers who smoked inside the air condition area while there was plenty of seats outside.

After trying thier amazing Tiramisu in Part 1, Sara and I decided we MUST try the Aglio E Olio as it came highly recomended by our cell member. The owner told us it was a little too small a portion for the both of us, and thus we ordered another Roasted Salmon. I took an Ice tea while Sara had a glass of red wine. It was not long before she realized that two other ladies drinking Red wine as well, seem to have a little more in thier glass then her, but I said, perhaps they ordered a double? The dishes came quite promptly and we dug in. The skin of the salmon was very crisp and well done, the fish very fresh, quite good actually. The pasta was firm, the authentic Italian way, unlike a few places here that tend to overcook the pasta instead of serving it “Aldente or Cooked enough to be firm but not soft”. It tasted a little bland though, and not the best I ever had. We then proceeded to desert, and of course it was Tiramisu :)

Aglio E Olio

Roasted Salmon

Break down of cost.
The Pasta        RM23
Fresh Salmon  RM45
Tiramisu         RM15
Tea                 RM6.5
Wine (glass)   RM20
Service Charge (10%)  RM10.95
Governtment Tax (5%)  RM5.48   <- I don’t really think she is allowed to charge this.

Grand Total RM125.93

Conclution : I know we gave this place a good rating based on the tiramisu only, but for dinner somehow I felt alittle dissapointed.

Wanting to be spontaneous after our last minute trip to Genting highlands failed due to us not being adventures enough, Sara and I decided to drive to Kajang and eat some of its famous satay. Which restaurant? Now there are many places to eat Satay (Sate) here, but we decided to go to one of the famous establishments, which is also a chain restaurant with branches elsewhere. The satey here is still cooked on charcoal fire and the place is nice and clean. We ordered 10 Chicken at RM0.60 per stick, 10 Mutton ar RM0.90 a stick, 10 Deer at RM1.30 a stick and 2 Beef Livers at RM0.60 a stick. I wanted to order some Rabbit satey, but there were sold out. We also drank a coconut each at RM3.50. We were stuffed! The food was good, though the chicken satey was much better than the more expensive meats. I wished they had rabbit, as I am sure that would have been nice and tender.

The best tiramisu I have ever had and arguably the best in Klang Valley though I have yet to try Sara’s one. You have gotta try this place man. My friend says the food is good there as well. The owner Christine is a chatty babe who is just fun to talk to. I have heard people drive from miles away (actually shah alam) just to take home 1/2 a cake :)

Photos from cumi&ciki

Sara’s mum and nephew were up here in KL this weekend and we wanted to bring them somewhere nice to eat. Not really sure where to go, Sara decided to bring them to a place her boss sometimes brings clients called Extra Super Tanker in Damansara Kim. The photo’s above are not the dishes we ordered, but were taken by somebody else at this restaurant too.

What we ordered was Wild Boar, Fatty Pork Meat, A Vege, A Special Tofu Dish and a Very nice fish, which was the most expensive Item on the menu. The fish cost us RM110. The rest of the dishes were quite cheap but the food was great!! I loved it.
