Sweet and Sour Beef Balls

My life here is basicly made up of 3 activities. Work, which is a combination of many meetings, paperwork, replying emails and administrative and technical stuff, football and eating. Hence, I am mostly blogging on football and food :) Sorry ah, It does seem to be the main theme of my blog entries these days. Todays dinner was a quick one, but it was rather eventful. There we were, my international team, 2 Chinamen from Shanghai, 2 Indonesians from Jakarta, and little old me from Kuala Lumpur, enjoying our meal, when all of the suddent, the guy behind us gets up and started talking very loudly. I glanced over, and I thought he was pointing at my table and shouting. I was worried, he looked drunked, and I was alittle worried we offended him somehow. When people are drunk, they take offence at so many things. I once had a drunk guy almost hit me for being Indian, lucky his friend stopped him and apologized on his behalf. Anyways, suddenly 4 waitresses come over and talk to him, a long conversation in Mongolian soon proceeded, and finally he was escorted to another room. I then asked the pretty Mongolian waitress who spoke relatively good english, what was going on, and she explained he didn’t want to pay because he had to share a restaurant with us foriegners. I think it was just an excuse, and soon she called the police who sorted the matter out for them. We left, satisfied in our good meal, only to come back to work. Ahh, another day , I slave away.

One Night In Beijing

Saturday, May 27th, 2006

As you already read, I was stranded in Beijing because I missed my flight. I then had to spend 1 whole day there without much money. I booked a cheap hotel near the airport and called James, a friend of mine who works there. Meet up with him for lunch, and he suggested I go to Tinamin Square and take pictures. I did exactly that, then made it back for dinner with him, and then back to the airport where I slept the night away. Check out the pictures of my Beijing adventure.
