Me and Sara at Breakfast

Sara had a shirt tailor made from the cloth we had bought when we were in Saigon last year at a place in Bangsar called Lord’s Tailor. I had one made too, and it fits me like a charm. These guys are really professional and pay very good attention to detail. I think if you bring your own cloth they charge Rm150 for workmenship, but I think its very worth it for the quality of shirts you get made.

Wanting to both try all the different restaurants on Jalan Bangkung, as well as celebrate J’s birthday before he gets to busy this month, Sara and I decided to bring J to Opus Bistro, an Italian place serving good food and wine on a road that had 3 different shops serving the same. Ironically, I have been to the other two on birthday celebrations as well :P

Anyways, the food was good! Very good! I loved almost everything except the Oreo Cheese Cake which I thought was way bellow par. The Lamb cutlets were succulent, the seafood pasta (the dish that made them famous) is to rave for and the roasted cod was very tasty. My only comment is that the portions are so small for the price you are paying! I ordered the large pasta which was Rm36 and it looked so small! Sigh.

JJCM :- Marmalade Kafe, Bangsar Village II

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Ever since Loretta brought me to this place, I have been wanting to bring Sara there, and since Sara and I needed to go to the Suzuki Showroom, that day was today. We arrived at about 1:20pm and the place was not really crowded. We got a window seat and ordered as we enjoyed the view of Bangsar from above.

The food arrived quickly, and since I was hungry, it all tasted great. The Mushroom, Avacado and Pesto Roll was amazing! I liked the Spaghetti Bolognese as well, but Sara said that was the one item we ordered that brought down the rating for her. I drank a Mint and Ginger Tea which was very refreshing and Sara drank a fresh fruit mix called Zero Thirst which contained Watermelon, Ginger and Mint. For dessert we had the bread and butter pudding, scrumpsious.

The cost? Hmmm. This is when it gets a little steep.

Spegetti Rm19.00
Roll        Rm16.00
Pudding Rm9.90
Zero Thirst Rm9.00
Tea  Rm 7.50

Grand total with service charge RM67.55

JJCM :- Cava Restaurant, Bangsar

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

yes, now a review of the Restaurant we ate at Sue Kheng’s Birthday bash. We had a big group that day, 16 people, and hence we managed to try loads of different stuff from the menu. Its basicly a spanish restaurant serving a variety of Pasta, Fish and meat dishes. I had the steak, with wine sauce, which i must say is to die for. Sara had a seafood Piella, which was ok, and we shared an Ox Tail Soup, which was good too. Others had a variey of different things from pasta to fish, which was generally quite good. The meats were the best though, I must say. Service was a little slow, but to their defence, we were a huge group and they had a full house. Price was reasonable.

I Will Survive : A Review

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

It was the debut of my friend Loretta into the world of on stage dramas, and I wanted to support her, thus on a lazy sunday afternoon I headed toward Bangsar Shopping Center, the home of Actors Studio and went to see a drama produced by Spot-On Theater.

The show entitled “I Will Survive” is a Comedy about the corporate battles in a bank. The play revolves around the protagonist (Sally) who is attempting to be the CEO. Together with the other women Senior Vice Presidents, they fall prey to their own mistakes and weaknesses. The Executive Vice President, Simon Soh takes advantage of the situation. On realization, the ladies group and launch a counter attack of their own.

I found the play humorous, witty and very entertaining. The actors played their roles well, and though the story line was jumpy and a little unrefined, I still though the acting from everybody was first class. My friend Loretta played her role very well, and I loved her voice as she sang in a few of the scenes. You go girl! Two thumbs up.
