Final Thoughts On Bangkok

Me at a wat

Bangkok, the land with a Wat Wat here, and Wat Wat There. There a Wat, there a Wat, everywhere a Wat Wat. A land with Seven thousand and Eleven Hundred 7-11’s. Seriously, everywhere you look there was one. Cheap gifts, great food, tons of Tuk-tuk drivers who are more than willing to cheat you of your cash. I loved most of it, except always being harashed by the Tuk-Tuk drivers. That was seriously anoying. Each time I opend my Map, one will come over to you and try and get you to ride with them. Then there is all the offers for “Massage” and “Sexy Lady”. After a while, I didn’t want to leave Khoa San Road (the haven for us Farang’s). I did find the city very morden, and I loved meeting so many interesting people, some of which I hope to keep in touch with for a while to come. All in all, I will return to Thailand, maybe not Bangkok, but definately Thailand, to ChangMai and ChangRai in the North next :)

Bangkok to Hat Yai

23/4/2006

Woke up around 9:30am this morning, got packed and ready, went online till about 11:30. I realized I had spent too much money in Bangkok. Close to RM 900, mostly on food and drinks, and nothing really substancial. It slowly eats away at the cash without realizing it. I have spent more on food this one week than I usually do in 1 month in KL. Spending RM50-70 a day on food and water.

Changed some more US dollars that I had kept aside, had a tripple whoper Burger and bought my Thundercats t-shirt. I needed another book for the long journey and bought Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse. He is my favourite Author after all. Left Khoa San at 11:50, and getting to the Train station was really hard. The Cab driver didn’t know “train staion”, or “Hualampang”. I ended up having to show him my train ticket, then he finally got it.

I was glad to see the train already in the station there, and I boarded it quickly, enjoying the air conditioning reading my book. The train actually goes all the way to Butterworth, but I decided I wanted to spend some time in Hat Yai, and switch trains directly to Kuala Lumpur. I am joined by a group of Thais girls sitting all around me, 2:45 the train leaves. Ordered my dinner, which will arrive at 7:30, and I am left to read my book.
