Day 5: I’m still Alive

January 8th, 2004 by Nick Tay

It looks like I may have to extend my trip here slightly longer then anticipated, but I am pretty sure I will be back by the 18th. My boss wants all hands back for our annual dinner and then its Chinese New Year which she wants people to be in KL for. I am not applying leave this year and I plan to just stay in KL as I have allot of work to do and I don’t really wanna drive back to Muar this year. Chinese New Year was never a big thing for me, and after I stopped getting Ang-Pows, it totally lost all appeal. I drive back to Muar, hear my aunts nag for 2 whole days and I finally run back to KL. The only plus side to it is eating the Great Food. But this year, I am trying to loose weight, so staying in KL seems more logical.

Day 4: What else is in store?

January 7th, 2004 by Nick Tay

Things are not going so well work wise. Not sure why suddently everything is not working around me. Sigh. I hate it when this happends. Oh well…Move on, breathe…Make the best of the situation. I ain’t dead yet. Argh….Somebody just walked into the room looking for me. That means more work. Focus on the task at hand.

Day 2 : And I’m not Blue

January 6th, 2004 by Nick Tay

Hey all. Today was a good day. I actually didn’t have to fight myself to get up. I decided that I should be “adult” being here in Hanoi, and I can only make the situation here worse by having a bad attitute. So I got myself out of bed, had a meal replacement diet drink for breakfeast (Don’t Ask), got ready and Out the door I went. The cab ride here , as all cab rides in Hanoi , was an adventure of its very own. My Cabbie this time was 100% sure where I wanted to go, and zoomed like there was no tomorrow. I passsed buildings I have never seen before and arrived at a place I have never seen. I then told the cab driver this was not the place I wanted to go, he looked at the address again, and off we went. I wanted to go to 108 Tran Han Dao, he brought me to 801 Tran Hien Dou.

The day went pretty well, where we passed part 1 of the online test easily. Tomorrow we do part 2, and then a few days after that I can fly back to KL. Yeah.. Anyhoo, thats it for now. I will write more later.

Just Realized

Funny sometimes how it takes you forever to realize something, when you actually come to that state of realization, its turns out to be more like a state of acceptance. You realize, you realized it along time ago, but you were in a state of denial. Well, today that happend.

For those of you who don’t speak Nick, It’s all Good. Truth will set you free and all that Jazz :)

Hanoi I am here

January 5th, 2004 by Nick Tay

The flight in was actually quite good. I had the whole row to myself, and managed to sleep the entire 3 hours which was a plus. I even skipped the food on the plane. Was just glad to catch some sleep. I got into the airport, passed imigration, hopped into a cab and zoomed to my fave place in Hanoi, the Summerset West Lake. This time around I have a beautiful view of the Lake from the 7th Floor. I settled some stuff and here I am, back in the server room of the bank. Tomorrow promisses to be a long day.

Thats all folks.
