Bavaria 02

Bavaria 01

Yesterdays lunch was eaten at the first place in Mongolia I ever ate. The Bavaria, a hungarian joint just behind the Parliment. Food takes a while to get there, but the portions are huge. I could not finish.

Khushur

This is Khushur, a Mongolian dish made of Pita bread stuffed with Minxed meat! Very tasty.

Apple Whiskey Desert

And that brings us to desert. We had this lovely treat, Apples marinated in Whiskey, then fried in a pancake batter and server with raspberry jam. Just amazing.

Bon Sol Cafe

Vivien Tan

Mocha Cafee

There is a place in Ulaanbaatar I love to go to each time I long for cafien. Its a small place called Bon Sol Cafe, but 5 minutes walk from the place I work. I met up with Vivien Tan for lunch. It was a cold winter morning, but the day warmed up allot. I sat there lamenting away, and so did Vivien. Thats the only way to spend an afternoon, lamenting away.

I know its hard to see the snow. White snow, falling from the white sky, but it was beautiful. I am waiting for a day where it will be a heavy fall and not a light drop.

Camel Pie

It was a cold windy Mongolian day! So cold that seconds after I rubbed my snot on my glove it froze! All because the Wind kept gushing down on us, unrelentless in its attempt to stop us in our tracks. But we were brave, and continued to our lunch destination for today, The German Bakery. I met Vivien, one of the Malaysians working here in Mongolia, infront of her clients place and we braced the wind together, arriving at our beloved bakery half immobilized. We both ordered the Camel pie amoung other things, just so that we could say we had it. It was a 20 minute wait, 20 minutes too long however. The pie though fresh from the oven tasted rather sourish. The meat of the Camel, a little stringy, and I doubt I would ever order Camel Pie ever again.

Gulosh

I did however also order the Golash. A Stew of Carrots, Patatoes , Peas and Beef in a tomatoe based soup. Quite lovely and very filling. Along with my double expresso, and a fried apple desert, I was quite satisfied.

Pastries

Was suppose to leave the bakery with a few doughnuts to keep me company but totally forgot. I almost forgot my camera too, but lucky realized it as I took the picture above. I will return to the German Bakery again, maybe for breakfast one of these days.
