Broken Pipes

I park my car under the lrt tracks opposite my office, which is a popular parking area, which makes finding a good spot rather competitive. Today, somebody trying hard to park their car illegally in a alley, hit a water pipe and we have loads of water just flooding into the streets. sigh.

Lorry

With parking lots tight here in KL Sentral, we find Lorries will just park anywhere, even on the curb :) Now thats what I call creative thinking.

Debate :- The thing you catch the fish with

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Everybody is talking about last nights debates between Anwar and Shabery, and though I didn’t watch then live, I managed to catch them early this morning on Youtube. Many people in the blogshpere seem to be talking about who they thought won the debate. Most say Anwar and I doubt anybody said Shabery. Myself? I have no love for either Anwar and his ideals, nor do I have any love for the Barisan National. I do however love Malaysia. I think the clear winner of the night was in fact the rakyat. We witnessed for the first time the leaders of our nation talking in a civilized manner on topics that interest the nation. I want more of such debates, and I actually think we should have questions posed by the Rakyat directly. I want the topics to be open, not just about petrol.

Though, I take no sides in this, I was rather dissapointed by both speakers. Anwar clearly played the Race card over and over again, which will gain him support from the Malay majority for sure, but will alienate him further from the other races. For once I would like to hear a speaker that spoke for ALL Malaysians. Shabery was not exactly the man either, with personal attacks towards Anwar and always talking about the past. Sigh.

Anyways, its a huge step for Malaysia. Lets see more of these debates.

Pak lah defends yesterdays road blocks

Roadblocks needed to keep order, says Pak Lah
[Source]
PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has defended the police for setting up roadblocks around the city in anticipation of a public demonstration, causing massive traffic jams.

The police, meanwhile, said the roadblocks would continue as they have been “successful”.

The Prime Minister blamed the situation on those who planned to hold demonstrations and said the police were only doing their job of maintaining order and public safety.

“The police are trying to reduce hindrances and traffic jams (that would be caused if the demonstration go on) too,” he said, adding that businesses and shops expected the police to ensure disturbances do not occur.

“But at the same time the demonstrators say police have no business disturbing them. The police have a responsibility in ensuring there is no trouble,” he said.

Abdullah reminded the demonstrators that they could hold their rallies at stadiums where “they can scream at the top of their voice and “not at these places (in the streets) because people have the right to go about their business in peace”.

The rally that was anticipated to take place at Parliament House by Pakatan Rakyat supporters did not materialise yesterday.

Police said they would continue to set up roadblocks at several major roads if needed.

“We have no choice as our main concern is to maintain law and order,” said City police chief Datuk Muhammad Sabtu Osman.

The roadblocks proved to be “successful” although it caused inconvenience to many people, he told a press conference at his office yesterday, adding that 1,600 policemen were deployed for yesterday’s operation.

It is learnt that PKR Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin and a few supporters tried to hold a gathering at Central Market at about 1.30pm. They left when asked to do so by police.

I have so many problems with his statements I don’t even know where to begin. Firstly, If I honestly doubt there was any real treat to our nation at all! No proof whatsoever as always, the rakyat is suppose to take the word of our ever lying PM.

Secondly, the Jam for days was caused by the police. If there was a public demonstration, which is our democratic right to do so, it was always peaceful. The police are always the ones who attack those who are peacefully demonstrating. Time and time again, its the police who fire off water canons and tear gas canisters at innocent rakyat, whose taxes pay their salaries.

Thirdly, if they really wanted to protect the public, why are there so many crimes happening daily! The killers of little girls roam the streets of KL. There are murderers, robbers, rapist, car jackers, drug dealers and so much criminal elements and yet the police do nothing. I tell you if they can mobilize 600 police officers for road blocks, they can use the same officers and sweep the streets for criminals and this country will be a better place.

Fourthly, do you actually see them doing anything?? They pose for the cameras when the reporters are there, but most of the time, they block half the road, and then just let the cars drive by as they drink their teh-tarik, sitting under the umbrella. Yes, they are not even looking at the cars or the occupants of the cars when they block the highways! I have seen it time and time again. If they are looking for drugs or weapons in the cars, or if they check each driver has a driving license, or something like that, at least then I know something is being done! This is just plain waste of tax payers money!

And finally, a few supporters? Whats a few? 10 people? 15 people? The police caused the whole capitals traffic to come to a grinding stop so that a few people gathering at Central Market can be dismissed? How do you know they were not going to watch a movie together? Or planing an outing?

Sadly, yesterdays act by the police proves to the nation and the world that Paklah has lost it.
