I cut my finger!

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

Cooking dinner last night with the new sharp knifes I bought at the CIMB home fair, and I accidetally cut myself. It was a small gash, but there was blood everywhere! Argh! its amazing how sharp them knifes are!! What brand are they? Why they are Zwilling (Twin) J.A. Henckels of course. If your gonna cut yourselves, you want it to be with a good knife! Haha.

My poor finger

Its all better now, no more bleeding though it did take a while for it to finally stop. So be careful when cutting peices of chicken!

Nick is watching Opening Ceramony of the Oylmics 08/08/08 8:08pm

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Yes, its a historic date. I am actually quite curious how the opening ceramony will be like. Truth be told, I have not watched the Oylmpics in years!! Its not that I have lost interest, more like the timing has never been right after I started working. They only happen once in every 4 years, and Athens 2004 had a huge time difference which made things alitle hard. 2000 was in Sydney and I don’t think I had a TV that year. I was still a struggling Young man, just started work for 2 years. Atlanta 1996, I was a College Student and I didn’t have a TV either. Haha. Go Oylmpics. You think Malaysia can win Gold ah? If we win, got public holiday?

Of the journey back to Kota Tinggi

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Early Saturday morning I drove down to Subang, picked up two Aunties and one Uncle of Sara’s and off we went down to Kota Tinggi in Sara’s kenari. It was a bumpy ride, as with a full load, and the Myvi tires on a kenari, every small bump and the rear tyre would scrape the mud guard, but we had a smoot journey. We stopped twice and then before we knew it, we were in Johor Jaya to pick up Sara who came over from Singapore early that morning.  Got down to Kota Tinggi, the first thing I did was eat the wonderfully sweet Rambutans that were at Sara’s dad’s place.

Rambutans

The rest of the family was more interested in the Durians, but me, not so. Sara’s aunt who has been in China for a while was happy to have durians, and even Julia, Sara’s dog ate them. Hehe. I guess Sara and I are the only 2 in the family that don’t eat durians.

In the afternoon while everybody took a nap, I was kinda bored, and so I went roaming in Kota Tinggi, the town of my childhood to see which shops were still around. I saw the Indian Barber who used to cut my hair when I was but a wea lad of 6-8 years old, and he kept looking at me, as if he knew me. I didn’t wanna tell me who I was, so just walked on by, trying not to be noticed. I realized that Watson, a fast food and Ice Cream parlor next to my Dad’s old clinic had gone out of business. How sad. I really wanted to eat some Ice cream there, but I settled for an ice Kacang at a stall not far from my dad’s clinic. Used to eat there when were younger too.

That night, we slept at Sara’s sister’s place in Johor Jaya, and drove back to Kota Tinggi in the morning, where Sara’s dad brought us to eat the best Bak Kut Teh in Johor, some say Singapore too. In fact, I heard that people from JB drive all the way down to eat there. Saw many singaporean license plates as well. Its about 8 miles from Kota Tinggi, along Jalan Mawai, you can’t miss it. Tons of cars parked along the road side. Yum.

After breakfast and spending alittle more time in Kota Tinggi, the 5 of us headed back up to kl. Sara, the two aunts and one uncle and myself, slowly drove back up the Highway, stopping twice, once for a toilet break and another for KFC Lunch at Restaurant Jejantas. A good weekend :)

Of Busy Saturdays….

Monday, July 21st, 2008

Had allot to do last Saturday. Tons. Started by going to the Wet market in SS2 really early in order to cook curry chicken for a party Sara and I were attending later that day. Now, I usually do my grocery shopping at Supermarkets, but decided to try the wet market as Sara said it was cheaper. We parked our car at SS2, and then started to walk around, the first thing that caught our eyes were some huge prawns, that were selling at 32 per Kt. We were really interested till somebody in the stall right next to us called us about his prawns. They were cheaper, about 22 per kt. As Sara and I were discussing which to buy, he went on a speech on how his prawns where from Kuala Selangor and they were the best, unlike the stall next to him, which is from some unknown place. He went on and on, till Sara and I were convinced, so Sara asked for 1 Kt. Now, I thought it was suppose to be 1 Kilogram, and when I saw he was only putting 600grams into the plastic bag, I alerted Sara. And she told me that the price is by Kt (Kati), which is an old way of measuring. Learned something new.

We continued to buy other things like Vegetables, Potatoes, Curry powder and of course Chicken. It was quite an experience for me. Have not shopped in a Wet market for ages. We then had breakfast there and proceeded to head home to cook curry.

After about and hour of chopping, frying and other cooking related verbs, we headed out to the dentist. I had  my teeth polished and cleaned as well as having a filling filled. The dentist says i need to get my wisdom tooth extracted. Argh. Have to arange for that soon.

Then it was to Pavilion, where I had a gym session. One hour of working out really made me extremely tired and not very flexible at all. Sigh. Then we had lunch at KFC, and did some shopping there. Then we picked up Sara’s cousin Grace and headed off to Young Adult service in GT.

After service it was party time. We drove back to get the Chicken curry and then onwards to the party, where we ate tons of amazingly good food. Yum. Then we sent back Sara’s cousin and headed to 1 Utama for our midnight movie, the Dark Night.

We were soo tired, and Sara actually fell asleep for about 1 hour. I tried to wake her up, but she insisted that she was too tired and needed some shut eye. Hehe. All in all 1 learned a few important things.

1) I am too old for mid-night movie

2) A kt is 600 grams

3) Wet markets are cheaper than Supermarkets

4) Don’t mess with Kuala Selangor Prawns
