30 Days till Nathan Arrives :- Checklist of Baby Things

How ready am I? Well, Sara’s good friend who is a mother of 2 sent us a list of items that we would most likely need. Some of them I have never heard of before, others we have bought, and a majority of stuff, we received as gifts from church friends. If you have any comments on things I might have forgotten, please do let me know.

Baby’s Room
Baby Cot – Check
Musical mobiles/ Merry-go-round
Mattress (3″ or 4″) – Check
Blanket – Check
Bumper – Check
Pillow/bolster case – Not yet, I read somewhere Newborns should not use pillows or bolsters
Bedsheets – Check
Mattress protector – Check
Changing table (optional) – Daren and Tiff lent me theirs, Thanks so much!
Cupboard/Chest of Drawers – Don’t need one of those.


Clothes for baby

Mittens/Bootees – Check
Cloth Diapers (Can also be use to wrap baby) – Check
Nappy liners – Check
Blouse/shirts – long and short sleeves – Check
Suits – pants and long shirts – Check
Rompers a.k.a Onesies – Check
Handkerchiefs (get plenty of them) – Will get this soon

Claypot or double boil claypot for mum’s confinement soup
Claypot or earthenware for cooking pig’s trotters in ginger and black vinegar
2 pails for mum’s bathing and face cleansing.

    Hi hi…

    An advice on the powder. Not sure if it’s required or not but it’s probably good to use but don’t use the puff that normally comes with the casing coz it will send the powder flying all over baby’s face. Instead, get those type where women use for facial powder ie the flat, round, beige ones. It’s more “baby-friendly” :)

    Call me if you don’t know which ones I’m referring to :)
