Down-Under Dayz : Road Trip Day 3

It was the Anzac day morning, and I was invited to join a dawn service by the families who had cooked an amazing dinner the night before. I got up at 5am, freshened up, and at 5:30, they had already had a few adults by the fireplace.

We gathered around, 7 adults i total, and began the ceramony. First they read a poem, then one of them played on his Ipod, a memorial trumpet song, then we all observed a minute of silence. It was a simple yet touching ceramony, and eye openner to me. After that, I was served the Gunpowder sandwich, toast, bacon, eggs and beans, which is the traditional breakkie I was told.

Soon the sun rose, and the rest of the camp was awake. We took some photos of the nice park, saw some creatures, packed our bags and headed towards Great Ocean Road. The drive was a long and diffucult one, where you rarely could go over 50kmh. The view along the way was beautiful, but I couldn’t really enjoy it with my eyes fixed on the road, making sure we didn’t go over a cliff. We soon arrived at the amazing sites of ,”The Twelve Apostles”, and “London Bridge”.

The view was worth the drive. Breath taking for sure! We stayed a while, taking tons of photos, enjoying the bright sunny day, and well, just camwhoring. They say there are 2 great ocean roads, and I was proud to say I have driven on one of them!

We got a little rumble in our tummies after the ride, and found a small town, got our picnic matts and the stove out, boiled some water and had maggie mee in the cup. We wanted to pan fry some fish, but being Anzac day, most of the shops were closed.

We drove and drove and finally arrived at the small town of Warranbol, where we got some kangaroo meat and some beef at the local Safeway, and I BBQ-ed it at the place we stayed. End of Day 3.
