Far-Reaching Reform Starts with an Apology
March 27th, 2008 by Nick Tay
“You can’t expect (former premier) Tun Dr Mahatir Mohamad to do that (aplologize). That administration is gone. Karpal (Sigh) was just being naughty. He just wanted to make a political issue”, said Datuk Mohd Zaid Ibrahim.
I think this Datuk isn’t very smart, or at least not well versed with how reforms actually start! I mean if Australian Premier Kevin Rudd can apologize for the mistakes of past administrations, surely Pak Lah can do the same! You can’t really reform unless you are willing to admit that there has been mistakes done! I don’t expect Dr.M to say sorry, I expect Pak Lah, to humble himself, admit that BN and UMNO has made huge errors, made this country, and then and only then can we start to talk about Far-Reaching Reforms! I mean, look at Australia, the previous government refused to apologize and now they are the opposition party. If BN wants to remain the Ruling Party and not turn into the new Opposition party, learn from your mistakes. I honestly think if Pak Lah will just admit he has spent the last 4 years sleeping on the job and apologize, and tell the people he repents and will do a better job from now on, Malaysians would actually forgive him. Most Malaysians actually like Pak Lah. I guess Pride comes before a fall.
