I am sorry
February 13th, 2008 by Sara Foo
Today I wake up, turn on TV and glue myself to it. Kevin Rudd, Australia prime minister, on behalf of the parliament, said sorry to the aboriginal people. It is live broadcast. It is formal and sincere. What a brave nation, I thought. Many nations have never admitted their past mistakes. Where are their souls sometime I think. Things happened long time ago, between 1920 to 1970. That time, the white people took the aboriginal children from their mummy to be raised by the white for “better” life. What is “better” life? Something terrible did happen, apology is needed to those who have been hurt irregardless when the incident happened. Deal with the past, once for all, and move on. To Australian, I am proud of you.
