Vung Tau :- The Arrival
December 4th, 2007 by Nick Tay

After the exciting 3 hour journey to Vung Tau by motorbike, I had enough of being the passenger. I wanted to ride! And ride I did! We took the bikes out and we explored several places in the city, starting with eating some awesome Nem Nuong Ninh Hoa in the town area.

The streets of Vung Tau was filled with my people, both local and foriegn enjoying the view, making out by the seaside. At some points the waves hit the rocks of the shore so hard that you could feel the ocean mist hit your face as you rode on by. After the great meal, we went up the light house by motorbike.

The journey up to the lighthouse is not to be attempted by novice novice motorbike riders, as the slopes are very narrow and at one point there was only a dirt road. On the way up the hill you will see many couples parked along the road kissing very passionately
The ride down is much harder than the ride up, and I almost had a small accident, but thank God, both Sara and I were ok. The view from the top of the Hill was breathtaking, and my camera could not do it just, so I decided not to try.

Next on our agenda was desert, and we had one of the best local ice creams I have had here. An array of flavors topped with Coconut shavings, this one really rocked. After Ice cream, we zoomed around town and headed for some fruit drinks at an ocean side bar, and then Supper.

Crab! And tons of it! Deliciously cooked Crab! You can bargain with the shop owner for a better price, as the guys did, but you need to be able to buy bulk, and speak Vietnamese. End of Day 1, day 2 to come.
