 Ever since I did the Big Apple Donut entry, I got some comments about how it actually ripped off JCO Donuts. Always wanting to explore new foods, and with Pavilion just opposite my office, I went to try for myself JCO donuts.
From the outside, this place looked quite impressive, and had a few similarities to Big Apple. I started snapping photos when the lady serving me said it was not allowed. Oh kay! Minus points there! I ordered the following donuts :- Glazzy, Oreology, JCrown Oreo, JCrown Nutella, Jacky Chunk ad Copa Banana.
Cost : 1/2 a doz RM 10.95 + 5% Gov Tax = 11.50
The verdict? Well, I only ate 2 donuts, the rest were given away. I ate Oreology and Copa Banana, and at first bite i didn’t like them. The texture felt harder and alittle cardboardy compred to big apple ones. Maybe it was just my batch, that I donno, but I didn’t like them enough to go back. Pricey and not nice leh!

I agree Big Apple is wayyyyyy better than JCO. Don’t care whether it’s a ripped off or what but I only go for the best.
JCO is the original and the best. You guys should not patronize Big apple since the stole the whole idea from JCO and call it their own. Yeah just by adding a durian and flossy donut. Big apple just opened at pavilion and there are hardly any customers. The workers seem bored and downstairs at JCO, the lines are super long all day everyday.
i much2 prefer big apple than jco, this is b’coz big apple’s donuts are much softer (but maybe due to the fact that is oily-er than jco). although i have to get jco if i want the tiramisu flavour but big apple’s chocino is also a fav of mine! somebody once told me that jco’s donuts texture is more springy and not too soft and thats y they prefer it, others said that big apple’s donuts are too oily and that the oil doesnt smell fresh…its only a matter of time before people start crowding at big apple in pavillion as they do in curve. as to who started it first…it doesnt really matter anymore i guess bcoz both donuts have their own fans…those who likes it pringy and those who likes it soft…just bcoz jco started it first doesnt mean it would have won the hearts of everyone bcoz those who likes their donuts soft still wudnt buy jco donuts.
big apple is way better than jco. when i first went to pavillion, i saw a long queue at jco. so, i thought to myself, this place must be better than big apple.so, i actually queued up for 45 minutes and and bought 2 dozens of doughnuts. i mean if i have to queue up that long might as well make it worth while, right? was i wrong. I dont like it even the simple glazy doughtnut. i definitely prefer the big apple…!!!!!!
