Webcam investment paying off…
August 2nd, 2007 by Nick Tay
I am glad I bought my girlfriend a webcam before she left for Melbourne. Recently we have been having our online dates, where we eat dinner and talk, via webcam together. With Skype, MSN, and Yahoo, we can actually talk for free as well. It does make long distance relationship much easier than it used to be way back then. We still write each other snail mail letters, as I think that is something we can keep and show our kids once we are old and gray. They will no doubt laugh at them, as who in the world still writes letters eh?
Somedays, I wonder how the people back in the days prior to the Internet kept long distance relationships. I always watch movies of the days , especially prior to World War 2, where people would write long love letters, and sometimes only see each once in a few years, and yet they can stay devoted and in love. Perhaps all this technology is actually making it harder, even though the world is smaller.
Then again, I think commitment is not something related to distance or time, but a choice. I think when I was much younger 1 year seemed such a long time. These days, whats 1 year. I have worked on Projects that have lasted even longer! Maybe, its because our concept of time, once we start working, or when we enter a new phase in our lives is different. Perhaps.
