You know you won’t win most popular staff of the year when….

I had breakfast on Saturday with the usual suspects , David, Sara, Stevie and Angela, and I drove us to my favorite Tim Sum shop, in Taman Mega opposite Ming Tien. We parked at the end of the road as that place is quite crowded in the mornings, mostly due to the Wet Market and the popularity of the restaurants in the Area. As we walked closer to the restaurant my eyes spotted a familiar face. I was pretty sure it was one of my collegues, and so I waved. He didn’t wave back, instead he had this “Who are you again” look on his face. He turned around to make sure I wasn’t waving at some person behind him, a typical move to avoid embarrassment, but he saw nobody behind him”. I walked towards him and said ,”Hi”, and still he looked lost. And then I reminded him, “From our office?”, and finally it struck him. He smiled and returned the “Hi”. Sara and David laughed, and it told them its probably cos he is new. Actually he isn’t THAT new. And he sits quite near me, in fact if I turn my head to the left, I see him. Today, as I was sitting at my spot, he passed by, he saw me, and then finally he had the look of realization. He finally knew who that strange man waving at him was. Looks like I won’t win the post popular staff of 2007 at the annual dinner. Hehe.

hahaha, the poor fellar, and since he is probably new, to you its 1 new face, but to him its quite a few more! Maybe he’s not good with faces or maybe you have a common face.. but I doubt its because you’re not popular, lol…

haha! what u have is pure optimism! i would be blogging about something like this in a tone of stupefied embarrassment.
lol, but yeah, maybe age is catching up on him and he can’t remember that many faces…

i encountered a worse situation.
i bumped into this guy who is a close friend to my best friend’s ex-bf (yeah, not that ‘complicated’). i would be totally fine with the ‘embarrasing moment’ if we didn’t know each other for months, hanged out couple times, went to picnic together … i guess i would be fine when i talked to him, his face turned blurry like i’m a total stranger.
well at least i know i won’t win the ‘most memorable best friend’s ex’s best friend’ of the year.
