A matter of great national interest…

You may laugh, but for me, I was so glad that the government interceded in the matter close to almost all Malaysians heart, and their bellies. In fact I think most of us care more about our stomachs than our hearts, hehe. Unlike our neighbors down south, Malaysia will not see an increase in Roti Channai and Chapatti. Phew! Don’t mess with the reflector when it comes to his food ok!

Roti canai won’t cost more

KUALA LUMPUR: The price of roti canai and capati will remain the same despite the recent price increase of wheat flour.

This is the assurance given by the Malaysian Indian Muslim Restaurant Owners Association and the Malaysian Indian Restaurant Owners Association.

Deputy Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk S. Veerasingam said the associations had promised not to raise prices.

“I understand that prices for some items fluctuate from time to time, especially during the rainy season but it is not the same for controlled-price items,” he said.

On Thursday, Berita Harian reported Malaysian Indian Muslim Restaurant Owners Association as saying that roti canai and capati would go up by 10 sen next month because of a price rise in cooking oil, margarine, gas and wheat flour.

Veerasingam said the ministry’s enforcement officers had been conducting checks after the announcement.
