Mongolian Model Murder :- More front page news…
November 17th, 2006 by Nick Tay
Bought the latest copy of UB POST and it featured a letter to the editor my a Malaysian. This is what it says :-

An Open Letter to Mongolians
As a Malaysian, I offer my condolences on the tragic death of Mongolian National Altantuya Shaariibuu in Malaysia recently.
As a Malaysian, I feel ashamed that a national of my country has been charged with committing a barbaric act, with murdering a beautiful and innocent woman from your country.
As a Malaysian, I pray that no such barbaric or criminal acts against Mongolians or any other nationals take place again in my country.
Centuries ago, when the Mongolian Yuan Dynasty rules China, Mongolian imperial troops tried to invade ancient Malaysia which was under the rule of the Srivijaya Malay Empire of Johor. The less-than-disciplined Yuan troups were ambushed and killed by the King of Johor’s forces.
Today, several Malaysian law-enforcing officers of the Malaysian government have been arrested in connection with the Mongolian woman’s murder. As a Malaysian, I convey my sympathy and apologies to the people and government of Mongolia.
I pray the members of the late woman’s family will be strong in their moment of grief, and that Mongolia and Malaysia will continue to maintain close diplomatic ties.
And that Mongolia beats Malaysia in the coming Asian games.
E.S.Chua
I agree with the apology, but why in the world bring up the Mongolian dynasty?? Somebody please teach E.S.Chua how to apologize. Another article also in the front page says this :-

THE Malaysian police expect to get by next week the results of a DNA test of the son of murdered Mongolian model, Sh.Altantuya, to check on her claim that the child’s father was a Malaysian. Her father, S.Shaariibuu, reached Malaysia earlier this week with his grandson, the child in question. Meanwhile, the Government of Mongolia has taken serious note of the murder and has asked the Malaysian Foreign Ministry for a report on the case and also for regular updates on the progress of investigation.
Altantuya, 28, was found dead two weeks ago in Selangor, Malaysia. She is believed to have been shot twice before her body was blown into pieces with C4 explosives. The Malaysian police have charged two policemen with the crime. Any possible connection of Abdul Razak Baginda, a 46-year-old prominent political analyst who heads a local think tank, with the murder is also being investigated. Altantuya had claimed she and Baginda had had a relationship and that he was the father of their child.A chief inspector of Malaysian Police, Azilah Hadri, and a constable, Sirul Azhar Umar, have been charged with murdering Altantuya on the night of October 19-20 in a forest area outside Kuala Lumpur, according to a deputy public prosecutor handling the case, Noorin Badaruddin. The two were charged in a sessions court, which has set the date for the first hearing on December 14. A woman police officer, who was detained for questioning along with the two male officers, was not charged.
Press Spokesperson N.Demberel, told the media that the Government of Mongolia had discussed the case in its cabinet meeting on November 9 and directed its Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the country’s Ambassador-designate to Malaysia, Ya.Batsuuri, to monitor the progress of the case through diplomatic channels.
The murder, and its particularly gruesome nature, continued to receive wide coverage in the Malaysian media, overshadowing discussions in the ongoing general assembly of the country’s ruling political party, the United Malay National Organisation (UMNO).
Malaysia’s Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar, told newsmen on November 12 that he had assured his Mongolian counterpart that appropriate action would be taken against those responsible for the murder regardless of how well connected they might be. His comments came after Tuesday’s session of the UMNO annual assembly. The Malaysian Minister said that his Government would give proper consideration to any Mongolian request. “The police are conducting their investigations, and any request would have to be made in accordance with the law,†he said. The Foreign Minister said if it was found necessary the Malaysian Government would arrange for security for Mongolian nationals called to give evidence in the case.
“I don’t think we should involve UMNO in this. Let the police complete their investigations. Whoever is responsible and no matter what his links are to whomever, the police will take appropriate action. Our country follows the rule of law and we will be very transparent,†he said, emphasizing there was no need to interfere in the investigation which the Malaysian police were carrying out freely, without fear or favor.Ambassador Ya.Batsuuri, who arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Monday night, is scheduled to hand over an official note on the murder to His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tunku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail, the Malaysian King and head of state, on Thursday.
Altantuya came to Malaysia on October 6 with a younger sister and cousin to look for Abdul Razak Baginda. When she disappeared mysteriously on October 19, her sister and cousin lodged a police report and contacted the Mongolian embassy in Bangkok for assistance.
“This is for us a matter of national interest. The way Altantuya was murdered was very cruel and totally unacceptable,†a spokesman of the embassy told Bernama, a Malaysian news agency, on November 11.The Mongolian Honorary Consul in Malaysia, Datuk Syed Abdul Rahman Alhabshi, told Bernama that the new ambassador would meet Altantuya’s father after handing over the note. He would also meet with officials of Malaysian Foreign Ministry to discuss the development of the case.
