What a weekend…..
November 6th, 2006 by Nick Tay
It seems funny to me the things that can happen over a weekend sometimes. I mean seriously, it can be quite funny. However, nothing much happend to me. I did make a new friend, which was quite nice, as having dinner with somebody other than work is pleasant, and the fact that she is cute goes a long way too.
I have learnt a few things about myself this weekend. One of which is that if I put my heart into something, anything, things can be alittle more interesting. What exactly do I mean? Well, sometimes of you really wanna meet people, it requires you to get off your seat and go over and introduce yourself. I rarely do this, though I tell myself I can if I really wanted to. Allot of guys say that they can, but actually they can’t. And I always say that I can, but I never do, so I didn’t really know if I could or I couldn’t.
It takes allot of guts to go over to a total stranger and start a conversation. It does! Seriously. You need allot of self confidence in who you are, and well, no matter what the sorroundings / situations are, it doesn’t always work to your favour. Well, I am a person who needs a friend in every country I am in. I can’t say I have made friends everywhere, as some of the places I have been, the trips were short, and very packed, but I’d like to think the places where I have spent a longer time in I have made more friends.
Tired of not having that many friends here to do simple things like have a conversation over coffee with, I decided that I should put my heart into it. Its not like I was looking for love, I just wanted coffee. And hence, I walked over, talked to her and her more quiet friend, and we talked quite allot. Exchanged numbers, and then asked her out for dinner the next day.
We had a nice Indian dinner and we talked about quite a few things. Her English was not bad, she just lacked practice, and so I think she looked forward to having that. We talked and talked, then after dinner went for coffee, where we talked more. Not a bad way to end a week, I will see her again soon, no date fixed at the moment.
