My Daily Frustration….
November 4th, 2006 by Nick Tay
Each morning when I awake, I am faced with the same stressfull situation. I drag myself out of bed, go into the bathroom, take off my clothes, sit inside my bathtub, and then painfully try and to find the combination of cold and hot water that is suitable to shower, brush my teeth and wash my face. You may laugh, but its no easy task. For one the water pressure of both the cold and hot water outlets change very drasticly almost every minute. Just when you think you have the right formula, 3 turns to the left for hot, 5 turns to the left for cold, and you have tested it with much satisfaction with your fingers, as you allow the shower of water to fall on your naked body, one of two things can happen, both equally painful and fustrating. The cold water pressure could have dropped thanks to somebody in the building either flushing a toilet, or turning on the shower, and you will get scalded!! There is no worse feeling that of boiling hot water showering on your naked skin, especially when it hits more sensitive regions of your body. The second scenario, is also as painful. The hot water pressure drops and suddenly you find yourself being splashed with waters near freezing tempreture. It is -11 out there in the morning, and the cold water is about 2-4 degrees celcius!! Really!! Each time I wanna cool down a can of coke, I just put it under running cold water for a few seconds and its freezing. My showers each morning take anywhere from 20-40 minutes, depending if I am the only person showering in the building. Its quite frustrating, when you get yourself all lathered up, only having to wait for the water pressure to equalize to wash it off…..I miss home.

The most frustrating about K.L for me was the water pressure. It was AWFUL. Plus, the water was never hot enough for me. So I suppose I can kinda relate, but mine is so much more brattier… lol
admin : I don’t need hot water in Malaysia…only in Mongolia man

among the foreigner i met in mongolia, they usually complain that there’re not enough garbage bins in the street.
hehe..for u taking a shower is “stressfull situation” as u mentioned in your first sentence…is it indeed really stressful? or you just make yourself think that it is stressful??? guess mongolians are already used to that matter and it’s just normal for us.so hope soon u’ll also get used to it. Good luck and enjoy your day with fresh shower

Do what old hands do — fill a big pail/basin with water at a temperature to your satisfaction, and bathe by ladling out water from that pail. Keep a large thermos flask of hot water on hand to top up as the water in the pail cools.
admin : that takes forever!

Doesn’t take as long as you think if you fill the pail/basin one-third full of cold water and boil water for the thermos the night/morning before. When it’s time to bathe, just turn the hot water on full blast into the pail/basin to have beautifully warm water.
admin : but i like using the shower la
