What we can learn from China…

October 15th, 2006 by Nick Tay

Granted this is only my 2nd trip officially in Shanghai, and though I have been to Beijing a few times, I didn’t really spend all that much time in that City, but even with this I have learned something from China, I think all Malaysians should learn, to love your country.

China’s citizen, Love China! They might not agree with the Government and thier policies and procedures, but they love China to death as in they would die for China. Think about that for a second or two. I claim to love Malaysia, but would I die for Malaysia?

I am actually in awe how much China’s Citizens love thier nation. Watching CCTV9 (the only english channel in china), inspite of all the propeganda, you would think that any chinese citizen if given a chance to move out of china would go and never look back, yet I have met so many Chinese people who worked and studies overseas and still chose to come back to China, inspite of all its shortcomings. Why? Because they love thier nation, and want to see changes.

Malaysian say things to me like, If only our country treats us better, or if they are more racially fair, I would love Malaysia. Is that really love? I grew up being though that love was an unconditional thing.

If Malaysians could love Malaysia as much as the Citizens of China love thier motherland, I tell you, there would be nothing that could stop us as a Nation. Forget about the moon, Malaysians could reach the stars.

On this day in History..

I think it has got to do with opportunities more than anything else. After the tiananmen incidents, you should see the student leaders so damm happy about leaving china. But with the rise and ascend of China power, these pathetic souls lowered their heads and returned to China, all because of money.

but i totally agree with what you have written. Tiananmen is a western media propagated event which failed miserably. China has a long history of being messed up by the foreign hands even though chinese speaks of non-interference. The China today is very different from the china yesterday and the china tomorrow will be even more different than the china today.

There is so much to learn from China and i, probably as much as you, loved to visit china and learn from them.

There is nothing humane or pleasant to learn from the China that exists today.

China has an even longer history of being “messed up” by their own hands.

Now that they have money just sit back and watch them commit “non-interference”.
