The other aunts arrive….
October 4th, 2006 by Nick Tay
And at 10:00am Aunty Jennifer and I were standing at Terminal 2 of Changi Airport looking out for my other aunts then I spotted them, 4 aunts walking side by sude, one of which was in a Sari no less. They were Aunties Nina, Juliet, Tanya and Joan. I waved like a crazy person, and finally my aunt Tanya saw me. As they got thier luggage and passed through the gates she gave me a huge hug. The tour company had arranged a van to pick the 5 aunts up, and I followed along as my hotel was a stones trow away from thiers. All through the ride to the hotel I was all smiles, having 5 aunts, all of which I have not seen for years. We got to the hotel, and discovered that the night plan was to go to Night Safari. I called Dora, who would later go with me there.
After we got to the hotel, my aunts were to rest until 5pm, but they had plans!! First we went to Bugis Junction for a quick lunch. We went to the food court where my aunts were not impressed with the food, who blames them. Next they wanted to go to Mustaffas in Little India to change Indian Rupees to Singapore Dollars. Apparently it offered the best rate in the entire Singapore. I don’t know how my aunts know this, but they did. 2 of the aunts rested in the hotel and I took a cab there with my aunts Tanya, Juliet and Joan.
They walked around the mall looking for things to buy, but I inssited that they go back and rest, less they not enjoy the night safari. Reluctantly they left, and latter I found out, they wanted me to rest, and after I had left them to go back and sleep, they went out shopping again!. Haha.
Dora met me at Bugis Junction, we had a quick stop at Starbucks and then onwards to the Zoo. All the way there, I told her about my aunts, and Dora with her amazing memory remembered all 5 of thier names and the cities they lived. We got to the Zoo bought our Night Safari tickets and then saw the aunts. Dora was amazed at my aunts, especially how ellegant they were. She was especially mystified how well my Aunt Nina looked at 72, she was in such good health and looked like she was 20 years younger.
The safari started, and we were not suppose to take pictures with flash less you provoke the animals. Some moron didn’t obey and my Aunt Tanya scolded him many times. I love my aunt Tanya. The safari was rather boring as you could not really see allot of the annimals, and unless you stop and use a tripod you can’t take pictures. Maybe they are good days and bad days, depending on the animals behavioir. The performance was really good though. I loved the way the animals came from all over, and some of the animals really could jump high!! Again some moron took pictures with flash and my aunt shouted “Throw Him Out!”.
We stayed for the Fire dance and then I bid my aunts farewell. I would see them next In Malaysia, as they had a full day of tours the next day, and I wanted to just Chill with Dora.
