How to break up with my boyfriend?

I had a funny msn conversation with a good buddy of mine, who was/is struggling on how to break up with her boyfriend. She asked me for advice, and honestly, I didn’t know what she should say. Its not like I had much experince being dumped by a girl. Not to say that I am the one always doing the dumping, more like I have not reached the Girlfriend stage in more than a decade. I told her just sms and tell him ,”Its over”. She thought that was rather mean, and wanted a better one. I donnolah…I guess I am just not the right person to ask. Do you guys have any suggestions? Submit them, and she can choose one 
update : The guy refused to pick up any of her calls, and alas she had to break up with him via SMS, but obviously she wasn’t as direct as I recommended.

There is no good way to break up. One way or another someone will hurt. In a nutshell…face it head on and don’t look back no matter what the cost. That’s really the only way.

Seriously, a text? Worst way ever to break up with someone. Best way is face to face and with complete honesty. The break-up should always be as dignified as possible becase it needs to honour the relationship that was there.

sending SMS/ email is the lamest way to break up with bf/ gf. It shows how immature the person is.

anyway, the best way is to drop hints for a few months. slowly letting the person go. then meet him somewhere private; preferably his house/room then hold his hand and break it to him. cry if possible and to let him know the reasons.
he’ll surely persuade you and say “i can change”. then you say you’ve made up your mind and there’s no use of me staying if i don’t want to be with you.
say thank you for the memories, give him a hug and leave. best is to leave in your own car/bus. do NOT ask him to send you home lar wahlao…

Thx for the helpful comments. Hv tried the best possible way, yes KLO I did pre-empt him for a few months already. Wished it could have been a better, sweeter, kinder way to end, but he saw it coming and well, would not answer my call nor return my call so, in order for some closure, I had to text him goodbye. Yuck..
too bad.
