I have been called many things in my life, some names stick with me, others I have long burried deep in my memory. I think most people who are the closest to me call me “Nicky”, a name I only allow the closest of close friends to call. Its the name my famlily members called me, but its a name I don’t hear often. Even my sister has stopped calling me that, and uses “Nick” instead. I think when I was 14 I made the decission that I would be known as Nick rather than Nicky, probably cos during that time there was this Chinese Drama showing in SBC (Singapore Broadcasting Corporation back then, now called TCS), and the name of the Lead actress’s dog was Nicky. The whole school made fun of my name, and so I decided that was it.

There were other variations of that name in my house. There was a time my brother decided I was worse than a Pig, and hence decided to call me “Babu”, cos I was not good enough for “Babi”, sadly the name stuck, and everybody in the house and my brothers friends would call me than for years, till finally my dad ruled that it was inhumaine.

Since then there have been a few Nick names, Fuzzy, thats what my Uni friends called me cos of my fuzzy hair, and also “the-reflector”, cos I kept singing the song, reflector, over and over again. But the latest name to be given to me is “Figlet”. I kinda like it
