30 Cent is allot of Money
March 4th, 2006 by Nick Tay

Is it just me, or have things seemed different since the Price of Petrol went up my 30 cents? I feel like the traffic on the road these days is different. Less cars for one thing, and those that are on the road drive much slower. I feel the pain for those guys who drive modified cars and those with engines greater than 1.5. Man they must feel the pinch.
Its not just the cars on the road, I think the price of petrol has had a bigger impact than that. I went to the Night Market on Thursday and there was significantly less people! Usually at 8pm, the Chow Yang area of SS2 would have been jammed pack, this however was not the case. There were also fewer stalls opened in the Market itself. My theory, people who usually spend thier nights at pasar malam have decided to save some extra cash because the price of petrol has increased. The vendors, those who usually drive a greater distance to go to specific locations for the Night market, have re-evaluated if the cost of transport there was worth it.
Having said that, I must say this. The price of petrol in Malaysia is actually VERY cheap compared to some of the Nations I have visited! In Mongolia its like 1.5 X more expensive than here! In countries like Bangladesh, Pakistan even across the border in Indonesia, Fuel prices are madly high. I think most Malaysian’s don’t appriciate how much fuel is actually costs!
