Of Wet Markets and Hokien Mee…
February 24th, 2006 by Nick Tay
After a day of work, Vivien and I went grocery shopping at the local wet market near her place. It was not my first trip to the wet market, but it has been a while since I bought some real meat. Past few days been cooking with sausages and other processed meat, which gets a little dull after a while. The wet market is pretty much the same here as it is in Malaysia, all with one difference, the fish was all frozen. No fresh fishes here. I bought like RM 15 worth of beef, which is quite a chunk. I plan to bake a brisket on Sunday! Pictures to follow if it works out well. Other items purchased included Onions, Garlic, Ginger, Tomatoes and lemons for my homemade lemonade. We then went back to Viviens place where she cooked Hokien Mee! Oh wow! It was one of the best home cooked noodles I had in a long time. 3 Chers for Vivien.
Its Friday night, and the guys are going out. It looks like we are going to Strings Club again. Saturday is gonna be another trip to Zaizan and then to the indian restaurant near the Wrestling Palace. Sunday’s church and then my attempt at the brisket. More as things develop.
