In the office…
December 9th, 2005 by Nick Tay
Its been more than 57 days since last I stepped foot in my own office and as I suspected many faces have changed. The first and most visible change was our receptionist. Yups, our old receptionist was promoted and we got a new one. Quite a few of my closer friends have left the company, and there is a huge influx of new blood. I think there were at least 15 people I have never met before. Its expected lah, in my industry the turn-over rate is quite high. The office is surprisingly cold, temperature wise, as I thought that since I just arrived from a place that was -32 to a place that’s 26 degrees I would handle the air-conditioning. Well, since I am wearing the thinnest T-shirt I could find, maybe Its not that bad lah. Will go to KLCC for lunch to pay my overdue credit card bill (forgot to ask sister to pay), and to see my previous team members. I drove to work this morning. A feeling I missed extremely. There is a sense of freedom in driving your own car, especially when you know the roads, the traffic patterns, the landmarks and the way the drivers behave. I cranked up the volume and sang along as Mariah Carey played on my trusted CD player. Its funny, but I missed KL traffic. 4 months away from KL and you miss the silly things. I still have not eaten any real Malaysian food since I arrived! I will do my food consumption tour this weekend. As soon as I came in the office I made my traditional Ice Tea, downloaded my email and here I am blogging. More to come soon….
