The wind blows strongly from the east, making the 5 degree temperature feel much colder than it is. Its been a few years since I left Canada, and I guess my body can’t take the cold weather as well as it used to. As we journey to work this morning, something was different from other days, a feeling of newness, a fresh gust of excitement if you may. The streets were filled with students of all ages, some going to the local universities and high schools, and others, holding their parents hands as they walk hand in hand to school. There was one thing that caught my eye, the fact that all the kids where holding bouquet of flowers. I asked Juul what’s with all the flowers, and she told me it was a Russian tradition that new students give their teachers flowers at the beginning of the new year as a sign of respect I guess.
