Riding Trains with Strangers…..
April 17th, 2005 by Nick Tay
Seing that all the car park’s anywhere near AmBank are always full, and I end up parking my car a mile away from Ambank, and given the fact that the walk from my house to the LRT Station, and the walk from KLCC Lrt Station to Ambank put together are shorter that the walk to where I park my car, I took the train.
Its been a while since I took public transport to work. Back when I stayed in Section 14, and drove my old charade “Babe”, which broke down quite often towards the end of its life with me, I was forced to take public transport. Then things changed. Bought a new car, “Babe2″, moved to Subang, and then moved back to PJ, this time SS2, and most importantly, back surgery. I was abit worried If I could take the journey, with my heavy laptop strapped to my back and all, but supprisingly my back and legs didn’t hurt at all. They were alittle stiff, but no pain. Praise God ![]()
I woke up at 6:30, showered, got dressed, and did some last minute housework, namely, washing of the pots and pans used to cook last nights dinner :), and then got my dinner started for tonight. Yup, its another slow-cooker soup dinner.
At 7:45 I started my slow walk to the LRT station taking less than 10 minutes to get there, using the montly pass I borrowed from my sister, seing that she doesn’t work Mondays, I walked on through easily, and as soon as I reach the tracks, there was a train about to leave. I dashed and managed to get in just as the doors where closing. Gasp. Breathe in-Breathe Out, and looked around the train. It was quite full already, and I boarded the train at the second stop. So much for getting a seat!
As the train started it journey, I pluged my earphones into my palm, and let the soundtrack of my life start to play. Looking around the train, I thought I spotted a girl who used to work with me. I could not for the life of me remember her name, even though we car pooled for like 6 months till she quit. Back then I remembered her name, but this was like 2001 when I stayed in OUG. Anyways, she was quite a distance from where I stood and I didn’t really wanna go and say “Hi, whats your name again?”. So I just continued my people watching. Maybe I’ll bump into her again tomorrow?
The next few stations had more and more people getting on board and hardly anybody getting off. 4 stations had passed and now I barely could move my hands without bumping into somebody. There were all sorts of people on the train, of all wok’s of life. Some dressed to kill, others should be killed for the way they dress! Bright Orange does not go with Lime Green!! I am hoping that guy is colour blind!
True Story :- A friend of mine named “Jenny” used to always laugh at her co-worker cos his tie never matched this shirt, one day she decided to ask him why, and he admitted he was colour blind. Jenny then became his official tie selector, and they worked happily ever after! The End.
Finally the train reached KLCC, and almost everybody in the train got out, including me, who took a slow walk to Ambank. As I exited the train station and looked up at the tallest buildings in the world, I could not resist a photo opertunity. I am a cam whore!
