The wet reflector………
March 24th, 2005 by Nick Tay
Yesterday, I slept in most of the day, and after American Idol (4-5pm), I decided to take a walk at Bk. Kiara. I looked at the sky, and they were grey, but that didn’t scare me. I was determined, with a capital DETER. So I got into my sports gear, got into my Car, and zoomed in the direction of the hills. As I went through the underpass tunnel, 3 raindrops hit my windscreen, but I was not gonna let that scare me. I proceded to my destination, and as I parked my car at the foot of the hill, I saw tons of people finishing thier walk heading back to thier cars. I got out of my car, did a few warm up excersizes and I was up the hill. On the way up, everybody seemed to be looking at me, as if thinking “Does this guy know its gonna rain?”. I even passed by one of the regulars I see, this guy who I knew from my days in the Petrol-Retail industry, and he goes “Its going to rain you know!”. And I go “Yeah, looks like it”, and continue my journey.
And then I finaly made it over the first hill, which brings you to a for in the road, where you make one circle around the second hill and back again down the hill. I looked up, and it was still grey, but I proceded. I was DETERMINED! Six minutes passed, and the rain started to drip. At first slowly, so I said to myself, I can handle this. 8 minutes later, cats and dogs fell down from the sky, and within seconds, seconds I tell ya, I was soaked. How soaked? My shoes where flooded! With each step I took I could hear the watter gush out of them, and it felt great. Like I was a kid again playing in the rain. I continued to walk at the same pace, this time singing “I wish It would rain down on me” by Phill Collins, and having the time of my life. After 20 minutes, I finished the loop, and it was back down the hill. I thought I was the only one crazy enough to do this, but I was wrong. In the distance I saw a guy on a mountian bike, full equiptment and all, speeding through the rain. Then moments later one Uncle with a Brolly, walking in the rain. And then 5 others all with big golf brollies, all making the climb up the hill in the heavy tropical storm. I guess I am not as determined as they were.
I made my way back to my car, the rain stil pouring, I took out my Sunshade and placed it on the driving seat, so that it would not get soaked by my drenced clothes, and made my way home.
I am satisfied.
