Day 6: Don’t know any new tricks
January 9th, 2004 by Nick Tay
Sometimes I really don’t have any interesting things to say in the Blog, but I know If I stop blogging, I may never start again. So In an attempt to make my mundane life sound exhilarating I will try and use as many thrilling adjectives as humanly possible.
I awoke this morning, to the familiar piercing sound of my hand phone alarm at 5:30 am. I quickly hit the snooze button, and dozed off until my second alarm (The trusty wrist watch) went off reminding me that I had to wake up sooner or later. I jumped into the shower, and hit my turned on the steaming hot water which almost instantly gave me a inebriating tingle down my spine. hahaha….Okok..enough of that. I then watched the Simpsons and Whose Line is it anyway before finally acknowledging the fact that I had to go to work. I put on my shoes, locked the door, and I took the elevator down to the lobby (I pay such attention to details). The cute receptionist was on duty and with my most charming smile, I whispered “Can you call me a cab”. She replied “Excuse Me?”. To which I realized whispering was not the way to go, so I turned on my Macho Male voice and said “Can you call me a Taxi?”. She smiled and I knew the deed was done.
Todays Taxi was one of the more luxurious cars, the Nissan Sentra, which has nice leather seats and they come with Cabbies that speak English. For some strange and unusual reason, the street that leads to the city was totally crowded. It took us 20 minutes just to drive out of the main road leading to the city. There was this incident when a lady on a bicycle almost rammed into the passenger side of the Cab. She was not paying attention as she was going downhill and I could see in her face the shock when her breaks on her bike were not functioning as well as she wanted them to. She slam her feet down and did an emergency break, and inches from where the car was, she managed to regain control. Such drama, such action, Move away the Fast and the Furious, enter The Biker Chick from Hanoi.
45 Minutes and 56,000 Dong later, I reached my desired destination and here I am sitting on the server room floor blogging it down for your reading pleasure. I better get some E-Props for the effort I took! Reward me! Reward me! I deserve it! haha
I watched the Movie “Alive” yesterday on HBO, and for those of you not familiar with that Tale, its an account of a South African Rugby team who were on a charted flight when they crashed in the Andes. Stranded there for 70 Days, they wer forced to eat the flesh of the dead for food. A story which genuinely made me ponder on realize that my life ain’t all that bad.
