The Journey Home

November 8th, 2003 by Nick Tay

Well, Checkout at the Hotel took forever. It was a good thing I always do things half an hour in advance, so that i will never be late. The checkout took about 45 minutes because they had some technical problems with thier EDC. Sigh. I did however meet a nice Korean gentlemen. We exchanged cards and i realized that we have the same family name. Only in different languages. Mine is Tay, his is Jae, both the Chinese Character is the Same. Cool eh?

The van ride to the quite short and confortable, and before I knew it I was already in the Airport. I checked in my bags, got my boarding pass and here I am typing this. Hehe
Picture bellow is me while typing this. Almost live. The airport is quite empty and almost deserted. I would take more pictures but the security guy is eying me already. Hmmm. This is like my 3rd time in this airport and on thursday, I’ll be here again. I wish this airport had more stuff to see. The restaurant floor is literaly empty!! Hmmm..I would think they would be preparing for SEA Games and go all out in the airport as well.

I have pluged in my Earphones and am listing to the wonderfull collection of Oldies I have on my laptop. Hehe…I almost have it all!! I have my fair amount of Elvis, Beatles, ABBA, Boney M, and some cool tracks like the one I am listing to now, Tony Orlando & Dawn’s Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree.

I have a very wide range of music, anybody who has seen my CD collection will confess to that, I have Musicals, Classicals, Jazz, Rap, Rock N Roll, R&B, Raggae. I just love music. Especially Lyrics. If I like the lyrics to a song, I tend to like the song automaticly. I feel a flashback comming….

Back when I was a wea little kid, when families only had 1 car no matter how rich you were, We would fight to see who gets to sit in the front seat. And Me and my sister usually played this game. When the radio plays a song, the first person to reconize the tune, i.e, Title, Singer and Even the lyrics, wins a point. The one with the most amount of points wins and the winner gets to sit in front the next car ride. The only catch, is that the winner must also open the gate when we get home. My Father was againts Electronic gates, electronic Car Alarms, and he invented that rule cos we would always argue who had to open the gate.

Sooo, till this day when I hear a song, I automaticly commit the lyrics to memory. It actually helps allot with Worship cos when I worship the lyrics to almost every song is in my mind. My cell members and some friends would call me and ask me “hey nick whats the lyrics to A song, and I hum a litle and presto, I rememeber.

I must say in recent months my lyrics ability is slowly fading away. I guess lack of exposure to song. Wait. let me change the Genre on my media player. Okay..Now playing Point Of Grace :).

Its 12:20 and boaring time is at 1:00, so you can tell I am gonna keep typing and typing.

Lets talk about Music, one of my Hobbies, together with Food and Photography. Do you ever wish that life had soundtracks like in the movies. I do. I wish when I was feeling lonely, suddenly in the background everybody could hear “Are You Lonesome tonight” by Elvis. Or when I am felling Happy, then “Happy Song” from Delirous with resound in the air.

If life would be like that things would be cool. People would automaticly know when I am upset or sad, or whats on my mind because of the music playing. I do forsee one problem though, everybody would want to have thier own soundrtrack, and can you imagine the sound polution. Okay, so not every moment, but the Sountrack worthy ones. Like when you Fall In Love, or when You break up, or when you got fired, or when you got a promotion. I think it would also be cool if the artist made a special cameo appearance in your soundtrack moment like in a Music Video. I can just imagine it now, I am calling Some girl on the phone asking for a date, and when she turns me down, then comes in “How do you mend a broken heart by Al Green”. Or better yet, when she says yes and “Sign Your Name Across My Heart” By Trance D Darby plays. Oh wait. How bout when I am walking on the street and then “The Gummi Bears Theme Plays”. hahaha. You know, “Gummi bears, Bouncing here and there and everywhere, High adventure thats beyond Compare, they are the Gummi Bears!”.

A few days ago one of my friends posted in her blog that she had found her theme song. I want a theme song too! I have found one that is totally me. Do you have one? Please share.

Okay okay…Its 12:40 and the counter is about to open.

Toodles.

ARGH….Its 13:20 and the flight has been delayed. Yes, for the first time in my MAS flying history this has happend. This put a serios dent into my planned activities, there is now no way I can make it to 1 Utama to watch the movie. Sigh. That means I will have to watch it on Sunday afternoon, hope I can tickets for that show.

Interesting things I noticed while waiting for my flight. There is one person here of Indian/Pakistan/Bangladesh/Sri lanka who is being deported. Yeah, I overheard the Immigration officer and him argueing. Well, when you speak with load voices, techically its not ease-dropping right? I wonder what he did, but the Imigration officer said “You cannot stay in Vietnam” and “I Will give you back your passport when you arrive in malaysia”. But the guy was like “But I have no visa to enter Malaysia”. And I just walked away. I wonder what he did to warrent being kicked out of a country.

Another thing. I saw one of the other Malaysian vendors in the airport. She is also flying back to KL on the same flight. I talked a little to her and then passed her my business card. She was not alone and with another vendor so I didn’t go and sit with her.

I smsed my friend to tell them that I cannot make it to the movie, and they said they will call me for mamak later. Thats cool too :).

Tomorrow Night I have made plans!! I am going over to one of my cell members place, thier parents are away and they are cooking dinner by themselves and I LOVE to cook.

Seriosly, I started when I was in University, and I just developed a love for it. My friends used to ask me to cook for them too. There is just something about it that I love, the way you can experiment with diferent Herbs and spices, diferent cooking methods, and come up with your own receipies. I have my own Nick Baked Chicken. A simple but mouth watering dish :) I’ll publish the receipy on day.

Okay its 1:30 and I am sooo bored. I only have 41% of Battery left and I doubt I can keep typing till boarding time.

Ok Ok, I’ll End My Blog entry here
-13:43-

-23:12- I managed to watch the movie after all!! hehehe
